1.2 Entry forms must be completed via RQAS Website
1.3 The RQAS will email you to confirm if your artwork has been selected as a finalist or not, or if we need further information about your entry.
1.4 High Resolution Image(s) of your work must be provided for your entry to be accepted. Images must be submitted as a digital jpeg or png file. Save the file as “yourname_artworktitle”.
Eligibility:
2.1 Entrant must be a resident of Queensland. Proof of Address may be required.
2.2 Artwork must be 2D and a painting or drawing in any medium. For works using collage or mixed media, the painting or drawing must be the predominant technique displayed.
2.3 Photography and digital works, including digital drawings are not accepted.
2.4 This exhibition does not accept entries that were completed in whole or in part by artificial intelligence.
2.5 Subject of the artwork must be from within the Greater Brisbane Area.
NOTE: Greater Brisbane Area includes the following council areas: Brisbane City, Ipswich, Logan City, Moreton Bay and Redland City
2.6 Artwork must not have won a prize in any other competition. Artwork must not have been a finalist in an exhibition organised by RQAS in the 24 months prior to entries closing.
2.7 Artist must provide a statement (up to 300words) about themselves; the story behind their artwork, its connection to Brisbane and what it means to them. If selected as a finalist, this statement will be displayed with your work.
2.8 Artwork must be for sale.
2.9 RQAS Brisbane Branch Committee Members and staff members are not eligible to participate in the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane Art Prize
2.10 Destination Brisbane Consortium and The Star Entertainment Group team members are not eligible to participate in the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane Art Prize.
Selection, Judging & Prizes:
3.1 A selection process will be conducted by a qualified selection panel which includes the exhibition judges.
3.2 After the submissions have been processed, all artists will be emailed to advise if they have been selected as a finalist or not. Only finalists will have their work exhibited in the exhibition.

3.4 The Judge/s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
Permissions & Copyright:
4.1 Exhibitors agree to grant RQAS and The Star Entertainment Group a non-exclusive, sub-licensable, worldwide, perpetual and irrevocable license to exercise copyright in your artwork for the purposes of administering, promoting and providing information about the exhibition. This includes producing photographs, catalogues and advertising for promotional purposes
4.2 Entries must be the original work of the exhibitor, and not infringe the copyright, moral rights, or other rights of any third party. Entries should also adhere to Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property protocols.
4.3 If you are submitting an artwork of a personality, the entrant must have the subject’s consent to enter the artwork in this exhibition including ensuring they understand the artwork may be displayed to the public.
Size:
- Artworks must not exceed 2m in width, or 2m in height
5.2 All works must not weigh more than 15kgs and need to be easily and safely carried by 1 to 2 people.
5.3 May be made up of multiple panels, providing all panels still fit within the size restrictions noted above
Delivery, Installation & Pick-up:
6.1 Artists will be notified by email if they are a finalist, and finalists will be published on the RQAS website.
6.2 Artworks to be delivered to the Petrie Terrace Gallery on Saturday 30th August. If you are not able to deliver at this time please contact the gallery to make alternative arrangements.
6.2 Entries are accepted, displayed, and returned at the owner’s risk. Freight and insurance are also the owner’s responsibility. All care will be taken, but no responsibility accepted for loss or damage.
6.3 Artworks cannot be delivered by post. A courier can deliver your artwork at the specific delivery times above
6.4 If you are a finalist and your artwork is not delivered within the times allowed it will not be hung in the exhibition.
6.5 Any questions artists have during installation must be addressed to the Curator/Manager or their representative.
6.6 Artworks must be made available for the full duration of the exhibition – Saturday 30th August – Monday 10th November 2025.
6.7 You will be advised via email if your artwork has been shortlisted for the Showcase at Queen’s Wharf from Thursday 2nd October to Sunday 9th November 2025.
6.8 Artworks not shortlisted for Queen’s Wharf will be able to be picked up on Friday 3rd to Saturday 4th October 2025
6.9 Pick-up of Artworks shortlisted for Queen’s Wharf will be from Petrie Terrace Gallery on Monday 10th November 2025
6.10 Works not collected within three months of the exhibition closing date may be disposed of at the discretion of the RQAS Committee.
Presentation:
7.1 The work must be suitably presented and ready to be safely displayed with the appropriate hardware (7.3), as well as being clean and dry. Damaged artworks/frames will not be able to be placed on display.
7.2 Any artwork not clean or professionally finished will not be able to be placed on display. This includes but is not limited to stretched canvas edges being painted in the round or in a solid colour. Stretched canvas must be square. Refer to framing guidelines [insert hyperlink].
7.3 Framed artworks and works on canvas (or otherwise mounted) must be ready to hang on the wall using large “D” rings placed approximately 5cm from the top of the frame. Wire or string is not required. Refer to framing guidelines. [insert hyperlink]
7.4 Artworks will only be displayed at the absolute discretion of the RQAS & Queen’s Wharf Brisbane we will not display any artwork deemed unsafe, offensive, or unsuitable
7.5 Your artwork must be clearly labelled on the back with your name and contact details.
7.6 Multi-panelled artworks must include a picture of the assembled work with clear instructions for installation
7.7 Any questions artists have during installation must be addressed to the Manager or their representative.
Commission & Sales:
8.1 Artwork must be for sale. Please allow for commission and any applicable GST when setting price.
8.2 Commission of 33.3% Including GST will be retained by RQAS Brisbane Branch to support and promote local artists.
General
9.1 Should any dispute arise where no specific ruling is laid down, the matter will be referred to the RQAS Brisbane Branch Management and the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane Art Prize organisation committee. Any decision made is final.
