Creative Director

Vashti graduated in 2011 from the Queensland College of Art with a Bachelor of Fine arts majoring in Art Theory / Jewellery & Small Objects.

Vashti has over 15 years experience as a private tutor delivering workshops at festivals, school groups & the general public, teaching a variety of subjects including feltmaking, drawing, book binding and general creative skills. Her interest in public art has lead to her involvement in the Woodford Folk Federation Festival, the Brisbane City Council installation My Own Private Neon Oasis by Choi Jeong Hwa, and the Royal Queensland Art Society.

Vashti’s personal creative projects usually focus on the natural environment & the human journey, with found objects making their way into her eclectic styled creations.

Kate Bounas

Operations Manager

Kate has been involved with the RQAS and Petrie Terrace Gallery since 2018 when she was playing piano music at opening events. In 2019 she started working part time in the gallery. Kate’s background is as an Operations Manager and Business Analyst in the travel industry. While she does not have an artistic background, she loves hanging an exhibition and being surrounded by and inspired by the exhibiting artists.

 

 

 

Lou-Anne Herde

Gallery Coordinator

Lou-Anne began as the Gallery Assistant with the RQAS on the 27th of April, 2022. In April of 2023, she was then promoted to Gallery Coordinator. Prior to working with the RQAS she completed a Bachelor of Arts, with a Double Major in Art History and Japanese in 2016. in 2017 she completed her Honours in Art History, receiving First Class Honours and the Donald Tugby Prize for Art History. Lou-Anne has always had a love for the arts and have been creative since she was young. She has spent time volunteering and completing internships at other galleries including Redlands Gallery, Red Hill Gallery and the IMA. Her current interests are in watercolour painting, cooking and anything creative.
