12 July 2017 • Painting and Drawing the Landscape with Master Artist John Caldwell.

good value for money. As a fine gesture, John gave all students a sample booklet of his work. I had stumbled on John’s approach with interest, many years ago but had not pursued it. I enjoyed the overall creative and personal approach and have already recommended it to another artist. The outstanding feature for me was John’s demonstrations.

Keep a light touch. Be brave. Not every painting will turn out. John Caldwell was a patient and helpful teacher.

23 June 2017 • Funtastic Acrylics 11 June with Jenni Kelly-A Pet Portrait
Thank you Royal Qld Art Society and Jenni Kelly for offering and providing enjoyable and insightful instruction in the use of acrylics. Jenni was extremely generous with her information and teaching of techniques and the class and fellow students were both lots of fun. As a beginner to this medium I have come away with a myriad of techniques to practice and lots of inspiration from both Jenni and the other students. Thank you and happy painting!

14 June 2017 • Funtastic Acrylics 11 June with Jenni Kelly-A Pet Portrait
Well, Jenni Kelly! Always a terrific experience. Jenni always sparks my imagination and pleasure in painting. Just her calm, informative way of showing what can be done with different colours and the varied tools used to obtain the effects. Her enthusiasm when things turn out and encouragement when there is a problem. I always come away with fresh energy and desire for painting after a session with Jenni.

30 May 2017 • Expressive Watercolour Class with Tony Walker

My first workshop on Watercolours was a great introduction to techniques for effects of mist, waves and one colour layering. I had someone wanting to buy one of my class paintings – so it must have been a successful workshop..

Jacqui, thanks for a fantastic fun day! I loved the relaxed, creative atmosphere in the class. No matter if you are 8 or 80, Jacqui knows how to inspire you. The class was worth every penny and I recommend it for everyone that wants to create something different as the usual paintings.

Tony’s approach to watercolour is relaxed and the big screen demonstration is easy to follow.

15 January 2017 • Monoprinting with Sandra Pearce

An innovative approach to what in my previous experience was a simple but limited printing technique. Sandra’s approach allowed for a much more complex and varied result. One of the most intriguing aspects of the workshop was that when the inked plate went through the press the end result was always a surprise, not always a good one but generally interesting. The number of participants was just right and Sandra’s set up and procedures was of a professional standard. I can highly recommend this workshop.

13 January 2017 • Drawing Through Learning to See: A Gestalt Approach

Kay has a relaxed but very professional teaching approach. I have learned quite a few new approaches to drawing a object. Kay was not shy to share a lot of drawing tips and tricks she has discovered over the years. The gestalt technique was new to me but will be used by me a lot more in the future. Thank you Kay, looking forward to a follow up class.

13 January 2017 • Drawing Through Learning to See: A Gestalt Approach

We learnt to see things holistically, essentially to view the mass of an object (or group of objects). The necessity of depicting 3D objects onto a flat 2D drawing surface was both. discussed and explored.
