Join the celebration of Brisbane portrait artists and their sitters at the 2023 Brisbane Portrait Prize Salon des Refusés. This annual event aims to encourage public engagement with the arts while showcasing the talents of local portrait artists.
The Salon des Refusés is a partnership between the Brisbane Portrait Prize and the Royal Queensland Art Society, and features works selected by Salon Judges, Bruce Heiser, John McDonald and Beverley Tainton. The exhibition provides excellent exposure for the artists who have entered the Brisbane Portrait Prize but were not selected as finalists.
The exhibition is set to be a memorable experience, and will be open from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 3.30pm, and entry is free, except for ticketed events.
The Gala Awards Night will take place on Saturday, October 7th, at 6pm, and tickets are $60 for members and $75 for non-members. The ticket price includes the first drink and canapes.
An Afternoon with John McDonald: His insight and knowledge of the art world should make for a fascinating afternoon. 1.30pm – 3.30pm Sunday 8th October. Tickets $10 for members, $20 for non-members,
The Wine and Cheese afternoons will be held on October 14th and 28th, from 2 pm to 4 pm, and tickets are $20 for members and $30 for non-members. It is an excellent opportunity to hear from the artists, entrants, and other key individuals about the show.
