Painting the Urban Landscape with David Henderson is a two day workshop held at Petrie Terrace Gallery from Saturday, 6th of July to Sunday, 7th of July, 10am to 4pm.

This workshop is designed to inspire artists of different levels to capture the beauty and energy of the cityscape. Led by acclaimed artist David Henderson, participants will learn about composition, colour and en plein air techniques for depicting the urban environments in oil paint. Each day will be spent with time in the upstairs studio gallery, and time painting the urban landscape outside around the Petrie Terrace Gallery. Whether you are a seasoned painter or starting out, this workshop will provide you with the skills and confidence to create dynamic work of art.

Tickets can be booked via the Humanitix link.

Participants can use oil or acrylic paints in the workshop, a detailed supplies list will be distributed to participants before the workshop. Participants will also need to be 18 years or older, and will need some painting experience.

Please note, this workshop will be held upstairs in our studio gallery space which can only be accessed via a flight of stairs, and also held outside in surrounding parkland for plein air painting.

About David Henderson:

David Henderson was born in Brisbane but spent his early years on his family’s sheep property near Winton. After studies in architecture at QUT he spent four years in London where he completed a course in painting at the Royal Academy Schools. Since then, he has spent many years painting the urban landscapes of Rome, Venice, Brisbane, and many other cities. He has won a number of awards and has held over thirty solo exhibitions in Australia and in Europe. David has been a Fellow of the Royal Queensland Art Society since 2021.
