The Royal Queensland Art Society Brisbane Branch has great pleasure in inviting its members and the art loving community to our first ‘ART TALKS’ event of 2026:

Rembrandt and the Expressive Potential of Etching

This talk will be presented by Professor Ross Woodrow BA (Fine Arts) University of Queensland; Master and Doctor of Philosophy University of Sydney; Professor at Griffith University. Taking a selection of Rembrandt’s etchings along with examples by other master printmakers such as Callot, Goya and Kollwitz, Ross Woodrow will highlight Rembrandt’s innovative contributions to the medium. Attendees are welcome to bring a magnifying glass or loupe since only original etchings will be used as illustrative examples.

Professor Woodrow is an Australian research leader in the visual arts. His extensive personal experience as a printmaker and exhibitor, as well as his considerable print collection, are foundational to this presentation.

This talk will be held at Petrie Terrace Gallery on Sunday, 8th of February from 2pm to 4pm, afternoon tea is included in the ticket price.
