Join us for our first artist talk and Member’s Gathering of 2024! For this event artist Richard Blundell will be discussing painting as meditation and meditation as paintings.

Richard will present an illustrated presentation introducing the processes, techniques, philosophy and history of:

– How drawing, printmaking, painting and many creative engagements can also be understood as meditation

– How paintings and other creative objects can be ‘encounter dialogues’ and meditation

– Why meditative/creative activities of this kind are best understood as not being faith based

This talk will be held at Petrie Terrace Gallery on Sunday, 11th of February from 2pm to 4pm.

Although this is a members gathering, all are welcome to attend! Event starts at 2pm at Petrie Terrace Gallery and afternoon tea is included in the ticket price.

 

Please note, this talk will be held upstairs in our studio gallery space which can only be accessed via a flight of stairs.

About the Speaker

Richard Blundell is an Australian contemporary artist living in Brisbane. He is well known for his paintings and prints, in which the modern life and native ecology are explored.

Richard Blundell received his Diploma of Adult and Vocational from Griffith University in 1990, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, Queensland, Australia, in 1998. He is known not only as an artist, but as respected teacher with over 30 years of experience. Blundell is very interested in relationship between creativity and ability to sustain clean environment, and that’s the reason that many of his artwork subtly emphasize animals, people and beautiful landscapes.
