This exhibition calls on artists to depict the concept of light and dark in general. Light and dark also often reflect the realms of mental health which can be explored in your artwork.

This exhibition will include fundraising events, with 50% of cover charge for the events and proceeds from the auction to be donated to 42 for 42.

42 for 42 is a not-for-profit organisation which was founded by ex-Army veterans whose aim is to help struggling veterans and their families by building a memorial dedicated to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The 42 stands for the 41 veterans who were killed in Afghanistan, with the 42nd representing the veterans we have lost and continue to lose to suicide, and those who have returned with injuries and mental illness.

Terms & Conditions


1.1 Entry fee $35 per artwork (RQAS Brisbane Branch Members $20)

1.2 Completed entry forms are to be returned, with the entry fee to: entries@rqas.com.au or Unit 3, 162 Petrie Terrace, Brisbane by Monday 29th March.

1.3 Please note the successful completion and submission of this form and payment of entry fee should be considered as acceptance to exhibit in this show – the gallery will NOT contact you to confirm your place in the exhibition. We will only contact entrants if we need further information about your entry, or if your artwork is not accepted for exhibition.

1.4 Entry fees are not refundable.


2.1 Artworks to be delivered to the Gallery at 3/162 Petrie Terrace, Brisbane, QLD, 4000, on  Tuesday 13th April, 10am – 12pm.

2.2 If you are not able to deliver at this time please contact the gallery to make alternative arrangements once your entry form has been submitted.


3.1 Entries must be the original work of the exhibitor.

3.2 Exhibitors agree to images of their work being reproduced in print and online for promotional purposes, to this end please include a digital jpeg file with your online entry or email to entries@rqas.com.au. Save file as “yourname_artworktitle”

3.3 All works need to be easily carried by 1 person.

3.4 Each artwork must not exceed 1.5 m in width.

3.5 Entries are accepted, displayed, and returned at the owner’s risk. Freight and insurance are also the owner’s responsibility. All care will be taken, but no responsibility accepted for loss or damage.

3.6 Any questions artists have during installation must be addressed to the gallery director or their representative.

3.7 Should any dispute arise where no specific ruling is laid down the committee’s decision is final.


4.1 The work must be suitably presented and ready to be safely displayed with the appropriate hardware.

4.2 Framed artworks and works on canvas or otherwise mounted must be ready to hang using “D” rings placed approximately 5 to 10cm from the top of the frame. Wire or string is not required.

4.3 Clearly mark the artist’s name, contact details, title of work, and price on the artwork.

4.4 Place an artwork label on the back but hanging below the edge of the 2D artwork on the lower right-hand side as seen from the front.

4.5 For 3D artworks please place label so it can be seen without lifting the work.

4.6 Artworks MUST be dry and clean.

4.7 Artworks will only be displayed at the discretion of the Gallery, we will not display artwork deemed unsafe, offensive, or unsuitable.


5.1 Artwork must be for sale, please allow for RQAS commission and any applicable GST when setting price.

5.2 The gallery will charge 27.5% commission (including GST) on all sales.

5.3 We offer 3-month lay-by options for buyers. Any lay-by not finalised within this time will have the artwork returned to the Artist.

5.4 Artists will be paid for any sales after the end of the exhibition OR when any lay-by is paid in full.

Pick up/Bump Out

6.1 Entries may ONLY be picked up at the end of the exhibition. Bump out is Tuesday 4th May 10am-12pm.

6.2 Works not collected within three months of the exhibition closing date may be disposed of at the discretion of the RQAS Management Committee.

Events & Prizes

7.1 Opening Night is Friday 16th April, 7pm. All entrants and their guests must book in to opening event.

7.2 People’s choice will be awarded at the end of the exhibition. The winner will receive free Membership to RQAS Brisbane Branch for 12 months.
