SUMMARY:Lana de Jager - (un)civilisation
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1523319263370{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text] \n‘Privately\, we have an ‘internal civilisation’ – ways we believe the world works\, fits together and what refinement looks like. Publicly\, it’s as if there’s a script and we’ve all agreed to act from it together. Even to rebel against it has a script-like feel. It has become increasingly difficult to identify non essential behaviour proposed as essential by our sub-culture.’ \nCome along and explore this beautiful artwork\, and Lana’s investigation of the question – ‘how do you dismantle an internal civilisation without being irresponsible or undoing yourself?’\n  \nExhibition dates: Wednesday 30 October – Sunday 17 November \nGallery Opening times: Tuesday-Sunday 10:00am to 3:30pm \nOpening night: Friday 1 November; 7:00pm for 7:30pm start \n  \nLana de Jager emigrated from South Africa to Australia in 1998 and settled in Melbourne. Having obtained a BA Honours Degree in advertising and visual communication in 1994\, she followed a career in graphic design. She followed her degree with 2 years as a lecturer [1995-1996] at Potchefstroom University and the East London Technical College [South Africa]\, teaching Graphic Design History & Techniques\, History of Art and Still Life & Figure Drawing. She was also responsible for organising and advertising student exhibitions. In 2013 she ventured into the world of intaglio printmaking\, but it was only in June 2016 that she committed to being a full-time artist. Lana uses polymer etching plates for intaglio printing\, with a preference for less-toxic processes. She first exhibited in Australia at Tacit Galleries in Editions 2017. \nVisit lanadejager.com (for previous work). \nFor Instagram and Facebook: #lanadejagerfineart \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row] \n
