SUMMARY:John Rigby's Lifetime of Art
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1523319263370{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nThis exhibition will be a colourful and diverse retrospective of renowned artist John Thomas Rigby (1922 – 2012)\, who joined the Royal Queensland Art Society as a junior member and first exhibited with them in the 1941 Annual Exhibition. He was made an Honorary Member in 2001. \nThe exhibition will be a celebration of Rigby’s art ranging from the human image to landscapes as diverse as Queensland and coastal islands\, the Northern Territory\, the South Pacific\, Bali\, Italy\, Egypt\, and more. There also will be examples from his first artistic endeavours as a teenager in the Glass House Mountains through to his final artwork – a drawing of his wife Margaret\, his beloved muse for sixty years. \nIn 1994\, Griffith University awarded Rigby an Honorary Doctorate for his services to the arts.
