SUMMARY:Colours of Summer
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1523319263370{padding-top: 20px !important;padding-bottom: 30px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]We invite artists to celebrate the vibrant\, rich\, and distinctive colour palette of the Queensland summer. This exhibition explores the bold and joyful colours that define our summer landscape\, lifestyle\, and cultural experiences. Artists are encouraged to interpret Colours of Summer through a variety of lenses: artists may like to depict summer weather\, activities\, what this season means to them\, and anything else that relates to this time of year. \nAll artistic media and approaches are welcome\, including painting\, drawing\, photography\, printmaking\, mixed media\, sculpture\, and textile works. Both representational and abstract interpretations of the theme are encouraged. Artworks can be 2D or 3D and must be no larger than 1m x 1m. \nThis exhibition is not judged. People’s Choice will be awarded at the end of the exhibition with the winner receiving free membership to RQAS Brisbane Branch for 12 months. \nPlease see details below on how to enter\, terms and conditions\, and presentation guidelines.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][vc_column_text] \nINFORMATION FOR ARTISTS\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\nClick on the buttons below to view prizes\, event dates\, entry fees and terms and conditions: \n[/vc_column_text][vc_tta_tabs shape=”square” spacing=”10″ alignment=”center” active_section=”1″][vc_tta_section title=”EVENT DATES” tab_id=”dates”][vc_column_text] \nDATES\n[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”custom” border_width=”4″ el_width=”10″ accent_color=”#d25846″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_table vc_table_theme=”classic” allow_html=”1″][bg#d05c49;c#ffffff]\,[bg#d05c49;c#ffffff;b]Event%20Activity\,[bg#d05c49;c#ffffff;b]Date|1\,Entry%20forms%20submitted%20to%20RQAS%20by%3A\,Wednesday%2C%2028th%20of%20October%2C%203%3A30pm|2\,Bring%20in%20day-Artwork%20to%20be%20delivered%20to%20RQAS%3A\,Tuesday%2C%2024th%20of%20November%20between%2010am%20-%2012pm|3\,Exhibition%20Opens%20to%20Public%3A\,Wednesday%2C%2025th%20November%202026%2C%2010%3A00am|5\,Exhibition%20closes%3A\,Friday%2C%2011th%20December%202026%2C%203%3A30pm|6\,Bump%20out%20Day%20-%20pickup%20your%20work%3A\,Saturday%2C%2012th%20of%20December%20between%2010am%20-%2012pm[/vc_table][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”ENTRY FEES” tab_id=”entryfees”][vc_column_text] \nENTRY FEES\n[/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”custom” border_width=”4″ el_width=”10″ accent_color=”#d25846″][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”2/3″][vc_table vc_table_theme=”classic” allow_html=”1″][bg#d05c49;c#ffffff;b]Entry%20Fee\,[bg#d05c49;c#ffffff;b]Description|%2435\,Per%20Artwork|%2420\,Per%20Artwork%20-%20RQAS%20Brisbane%20Branch%20Members[/vc_table][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”TERMS AND CONDITIONS” tab_id=”1607945731535-a081cfe6-1ef9″][vc_column_text] \nCONDITIONS OF ENTRY\nENTRY\n1.1. This helps the gallery to create a cohesive exhibition with a professional look\, as well as ensuring the hanging process is easy and safe for our staff and volunteers. \nPLEASE REFER TO THE EXHIBITION TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR MINIMUM FRAMING REQUIREMENTS. \nArtworks must be clean\, dry and professionally finished before being delivered to the gallery. This includes cleaning the glass and wiping off any dust that may have accumulated while in storage. \nTo download guidelines and view images please click here \nPainted Edges & Framed Works \nIf works on stretched canvas are not framed the edges of the canvas must be cleanly finished. Artists may choose to paint the edge a single colour such as grey or a colour that complements the artwork\, see  Figure 1\, or you may complete the artwork in the “round” as in Figure 2. In the “round” means to extend the painting around the edge of the canvas. Essentially\, the edges should not have random marks\, such as fingerprints or paint drips. \nD Rings \nFramed artworks and works on canvas (or otherwise mounted) must be ready to hang on the wall using medium or large sized “D” rings placed approximately 5-10cm from the top of the frame. Attach hooks facing upwards and on the outside of the canvas frame\, as pictured in Figure 3. Wire or string is not required. However\, if you would like to add wire or string\, please see Figure 3. As you can see the wire is further down the canvas and is not attached to the top “D” ring. \nSquaring Up \nTo determine if a rectangular or square canvas is “square” or “squared up”\, measure the diagonal of the canvas/artwork\, and it should be the same length both ways. Please refer to Figure 4. \nFoxing & Mould \nFoxing is an age-related process of deterioration that causes spots and browning and can appear as brown\, yellow\, or red stains on the paper or canvas. If it appears on an artwork mat\, the work must be reframed with a new mat. If it appears on the canvas or paper\, it must be treated and repainted\, so it is not visible. \nArtwork Labels \nClearly mark the artist’s name\, contact details\, the title of work\, and price on an artwork label\, to be placed on the back of the work. We need this information to easily identify your artwork before the exhibition labels (didactics) and catalogue are printed for the exhibition. Some artists choose to write this information on the back of the frame/canvas directly. You may also choose to include this on a removable/temporary label\, or on a permanent label or “Certificate of Authenticity”.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_tabs][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \nONLINE ENTRY FORM\n[/vc_column_text][vc_raw_html]JTNDaWZyYW1lJTIwc3JjJTNEJTIyaHR0cHMlM0ElMkYlMkZpdHNhZm9ybWFsaXR5LmNvbSUyRmZvcm0lMkZjb2xvdXJzLW9mLXN1bW1lci0yMDI2JTIyJTIwc3R5bGUlM0QlMjJ3aWR0aCUzQTEwMCUyNSUzQmJvcmRlciUzQW5vbmUlM0JoZWlnaHQlM0ExMjAwcHglM0IlMjIlM0UlM0MlMkZpZnJhbWUlM0U=[/vc_raw_html][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \nHARDCOPY ENTRY FORM\n[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Click Here to Download the PDF Entry Form” align=”center” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Frqas.com.au%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2026%2F07%2FEntry-form-Colours-of-Summer-Non-Judged-Exhibition-FINAL.pdf|||”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row] \n
